Our story
Pelage was born from a simple question I couldn't stop asking: Why isn't anyone talking about this?
It started with Louise, my dachshund. Her coat was telling me something—stress, diet changes, wellness shifts—all visible on her skin. But nobody was teaching me how to read it. And nobody was explaining which ingredients actually mattered for her sensitive skin. I started asking questions. Which shampoos are safe? How do you groom an anxious dog without making it worse? Why do so many products make claims but never explain the why?
Everything changed when I started actually paying attention. To her coat. To her reactions. To what her body was telling me. I realised her coat wasn't just aesthetics—it was her health story. And grooming wasn't just cleaning—it could be a moment of deep connection, if I knew how to do it right.
So I started learning. About natural ingredients. About anxiety-aware techniques. About rituals that calm instead of stress. And I got frustrated that this information wasn't easily available. That most brands just make claims without explaining the why.
Pelage is my answer to that frustration. It's education first. It's transparency. It's built on everything Louise taught me about what informed dog parenthood actually means.
